honestly i do understand the frustration experienced by non-pass buyers. having bought passes myself on numerous occasions - the game is made SO much easier. it is. passes help you get what you want pretty much whenever you want it. whether that be a horse, bmi, vip or pegasus account. you know you can just buy more. now this is not a dig at pass buyers either. i mean, if you have the opportunity, why not buy passes?
but guys we really need to look at the bigger picture here. this is a game to us, a business to howrse. they need to make money and we need to have fun. so i get not being able to win divines but who said divines are amazing and the best prize to be won? why are divines the be all end all? breed unicorns, collect apple coats, buy divines from the direct sales and reserved sales when you can. the game has so much more to offer than some divines. it's seriously time we moved on from the 'i'll never win a divine!' outcry and start playing the game the way YOU can play it. as people said, save up! wilds and divines appear in the reserved sales often. a few months of solid playing and you could have enough passes to buy one.
just some food for thought.

I started playing when this server first launched in early 2011(this is my second account), got my first divine 5 years later this year. I do remember that my thoughts were that divines were the ultimate and best thing you could get from this game and I got very frustrated that I could never seem to get one so I just gave up and stopped playing. (hence my seniority)
So like river bend stables said, I do understand the frustration of newer players but as you build up on better resources the game will just get easier.

Well, after all that commotion about the Vintage Apple for this community, I'm *so glad* that Howrse has decided to just completely depreciate the value of Vintage Apples by selling them for one pass!
Look guys, don't even bother for the Ow's Helios Ray because they're not even going to be special.
So much for celebrating '10 years'.
Completely disappointed.

Completely agree with you, Frozen. This thing is worth nothing anymore. I imagined it to be the next Diamond Apple in a few years, being even more special because they can't be sold. Now there are so many, it would take 10 years for them to be rare - if they died out after this, that is.

*Runs back from INT*
Some 'good' news from INT regarding the special offers for this promo:
Click to display
There will be
2 special offers during this promo. Option 1 will be the Gardner's Pack, which is 2 random seeds and 20 liters of water for 1 pass. Option 2 is the Fertilizer Pack, which is 2 fertilizers for 1 pass.

I've been disappointing with events so much so in the last year I'm really not trying
Even getting two divines after 7 years of playing and never winning one..
The novelty of events and even divines is just not there anymore.
It's not that the events/divines are worst, Though that is in some cases It's more that the promos are on to often

@river band stables.
Yes, the game becomes much easier if you buy passes. I have not denied that, did I
.
I just said that is is possible to get divines if you don't buy passes.

As a player who was on the AUS server when it first started (and on the INT server for a while) as a non pass buyer, and now currently a pass buyer, I think in some ways pass buying is *not* an advantage. It becomes a dependency on which you need to play your game.
Put it this way: I haven't really earned a pass properly in ages - I get the monthly one, have occasionally gotten one from pass horses, but apart from that, I don't rely on 'flipping' horses in sales. I simply don't have the time anymore to watch the market.
However, somehow, back when I didn't buy passes, I had a lot of time (it was back in about Grade 10), and I had more passes back then. I regularly 'flipped' divines - I remember selling Sleipnirs back then for 100 passes, and you could 'invoke' others for free back then - I stacked up about 200 passes back then (a feat I still haven't achieved since then).
Moral of the story: Time is money, and the truth is, you either need money, or a lot of time (or both!) or a lot of luck, for lotteries etc.

tbh, as a previous pass buyer. The divines feel less special or valuable knowing that to get them, all I need to do is buy them, pretty much that's it. It's doesn't feel like a win, or a challenge. I just buy it. How is that fun. The only challenging part is whether I want to save a few $$ and drag it out through the challenges or just buy it outright. Which makes the divine feel kind of 'cheap'. Like having to pay someone to love you, it's not really the same is it. They should just make money from advertising all over the site etc. If they actually want more game enjoyment.

Although getting the Divine still is nice whether you buy it, or win it!

*Groans about new pass system*

Seems like Howrse is making the mini games to get the 30 day pass similar to those of the World Championship. Fantastic, since they don't appear to have it working on phones yet.
How accommodating!

This is just an educated guess, but likely beginning of July.

They did this on Equideow a while ago. This seems to be the same.

Assuming this one works the same way, you have to press a button that allows the meter to appear. The meter resets every month, so if you forget to press the button to activate the meter, you don't collect any points. You cannot collect points until you activate the meter, so if you activate the meter to late, you won't be able to get a pass for that month, so you have to remember to activate it early enough next month. I honestly did not enjoy that change.

Is there any talks about the EC coming to mobile.. even a simple simple version?
The new pass system seems unnecessary, as it is not you have to be active for 30 days to obtain it...?

there should be an advantage in being a "loyal player" as it is it's just making it harder for less active

No what should be said is there should be an advantage in being a "loyal player" for keeping the economy afloat, keeping the equs ( cash flow) moving, the exchanges active, the sales moving and forums active by interacting within the game structure. Unfortunately that if done right, increases your equs reserve and healthy ( a good thing really) and punishes you because that one free pass costs in the range of 10 million.
I haven't used the "free pass by 20% reserve in years because in spite of being a loyal player I am too good at this game.
So finally I will now be rewarded for the efforts I am putting into this game.
