[FT] GA/HR Gallery
My current favourite. Shame there's the faint ribbon on the RHS, but as the second attempt at using this background I think I've done as good as it will get.

Hey guys here's a combo I did. Can someone tell me the name of the background? I don't have any passes and cannot see.
In A Video Game |
It is 'Pixel Game' by Paupolux - good match, I didn't know we had a coat like that!
|
*sorry, paupolux without the capitalization...

@Kangaroo -
Fantastic Mister Fox is looking good, clever use of lights and shadows with the light dust; ----- @horsefan1111 - In a video game is a pitch-perfect match-up, awesome & funny ! ----- @heylow - - Carbonara is gorgeous, the snow animation melts the bright coat within its dark landscape & overall the consistency is threaded with red... As the broken relationship. I must admit I don't get the name though.. o_O - Jaehee is impressive, almost telling the story of the autumn mist bringing the veil closer alongside Halloween. - Eloi IV & 707 are both very pretty, displaying opposite moods in a nice way. Their animations fit conveniently, however they tend to steal the attention. |

Isn't Carbonara a pasta dish? I like pasta
Is it just me or does the horse have eyebrows? |
I love the "Bad Boy" GA sooooo much. It's my personal favorite. And yes, I figured the landscape matched it, first because of the colors and second because of the atmosphere. Hot bad boy, luxurious car, but at the same time a sense of melancholia... (since the car is leaving and he's alone in a snowy night, not the most cheerful scene). The name doesn't have anything to do with the coat/landscape it's how I named the pony when he was born, and since it's one of my first horses, I didn't change the name even when he got a GA. (+ I tend to love a little mismatching, makes it all way more unique) I didn't think about Jaehee's match that much, but now that you say it, it's true that it seems to tell a story... I agree about the animations of 707 and Eloi IV stealing attention. However, they are what makes the GA and HoP "alive", otherwise the coats and landscapes match so perfectly together that they would be boring, like a show home, or a catalog (I'm sure you get what I mean). And yes, Carbonaras are pasta! About the eyebrows I must admit I got no idea. Maybe? Or is it just a wild line, placed here without meaning? I don't know!

I meant HR*, obviously

I finally had the pleasure to foal twin Fjords, though the match-ups are nothing spectacular I'm pretty glad I could give'em a Vintage and a limited Golden Apples.
Rydag might seem a bit gloomy, still the landscape looks as much vintage as the coat ~ The lonely rose somehow echoes the romantic nostalgia of the old coats... Wiroth fits the pines, streams and snowy mounts both as the pony inhabiting them and the blue-feathered jay warning its fellow residents. Besides I enjoyed how this Brunblakk Pegasus settled like a piece of puzzle the composition between eagle and deer. Hope you'll like them as well ~ |
I'm gonna do two things: first, what they make me think of WITHOUT having read what you had to say about them. And then, what I think about them once I read!
BEFORE Rydag looks great. I love the touch of red of the rose; so poetic. The Vintage Apple fits perfectly with the background, somehow, even though I find it soooo hard to do so when the quality of the coat and landscape are not the same... I must admit I'm impressed by how smoothly the two work together! The single rose reminds me so much of The Little Prince by Saint-Exupéry. Probably as well because the coat makes the pony look so innocent (yeah right, you get what I mean), just like the Prince (probably as well because he's lonely and seems lost, just like Saint-Exupéry's character). AFTER Ohhhh. Now that you say it. The reference to the old coats is clever! BEFORE Wiroth looks awesome as well. I'm not a big fan of the landscape you chose, but it works! I love that most of the colors of the coat find their match in the background, except one, the beige, that makes the horse stand out (as you might have guessed, I love colors. Art student life). This horse looks like some sort of old (American) Indian spirit. Maybe Canadian? Hm. No. Definitely USA (there's an eagle). AFTER Hmmm. I agree about the "puzzle piece". The background was cleverly created, putting one animal on each sides and one in the middle to create a balanced environment. I don't see how the pony is warning anyone though... on the contrary, he is so greatly melted in the environment that he looks like he's part of the forest, and thus, not really more aware of any "danger" he should be warning them about. I'm struggling to put this in words... I don't know if you get my point. Maybe it's because I imagine the danger to be external to the woods (like, humans), and so, the horse spirit of the forest, that never went out of it but knows it perfectly, would be as helpless as any other animal in this case. And now that I wrote that, I'm wondering what you actually meant by "warning" and if I didn't overthink it hahaha

I really enjoy this new combination but I can't think of a name for her

@heylow -
Thanks for your reviews You did overthink it a bit, not sure I followed you all the way to be honest... Although the idea of a forest tribal spirit is tempting, this coat actually depicts a jay - bird known for its blue feathers that shouts out a shriek call whenever they spot danger, so people commonly call'em "watchmen" The horse is rearing up, about to take off and turning its back at us - in my mind, we're the inquisitive human danger it's fleeing and warning animals about ~ As for the puzzle piece, there're different levels to it - The horse is both terrestrial and winged, and its coat's colours melt the deer's and eagle's together. ----- @ebby - Colours are sweet, its hooves stand out a little over the tall grass though. This mood reminds me of the end of the storm, the air still filled with water and a gloomy glow. I'd go with something like that, Fleeing Storm or Storm Glow.. |

Elsa is hovering a little cuz the arts' texture are slightly different, pretty though.
Modern Renaissance is spectacular, the gold match is as delicate as the moonlight over its coat. |
Love these three.
Mad Scientist Gate Keeper Twisted Insanity Also Apollo, just matches his HR. Apollo

I'm a huuuuge fan of your matches! I love Mad Scientist so much. It's simply perfect. I'd make a poster out of it. The hooves of Gate Keeper are a little bit mismatching the whole thing, as they are very visible. But that's really a detail. Twisted Insanity is a little bit too simple for me, I don't really like the HR. Apollo is simple but effective! Pretty poetic. D'Artagnan is pretty neat, except the difference of texture between the coat and landscape are slightly bugging me. The colors of the name don't work well with the match, which is dark... but other than that, great work. Charles Phipps is simple but beautiful. However, the difference of texture makes that the hooves of the horse are not melting so greatly with the landscape... (if looking closely lol, that's not THAT obvious).
|
I present you my new baby: Nothing But Thieves (from the eponymous band).
I'm not really happy with the hooves, clashing a bit too much with the landscape for my liking but I guess I'm just obsessed with hooves. Otherwise, I'd say he's a fighter, a warrior, alone in adversity as it seems to be the end of the world. And he's my first GP 2000 Australian pony so I love him very much (with his twin sister but I didn't personalize her).

Looking good, I love that background I've used the same one for one of my horses.

Does anyone know of any 'royal-like' or palace landscapes that would suit this fella?
Any other suggestions are welcome!
