The Companions

What are companions?
The first companions came into play in 2011. Companions are animals that you can give to your horses. They bring different bonuses that depend on the animal species. The bonus is activated with the first action you perform with the horse. At the same time, the view of the animal changes from the sleeping to the awake companion.



The companions were an integral part of the game until 2012, when some animals could be bought permanently in the shop. In a farewell event, the companions were officially removed from the game. Horses that already had a companion were allowed to keep the animal. You can find companions in the sales, but there is no filter to search for them specifically. 



A special feature is the hippogriff, it only existed during the farewell event of the companions in 2012.




The Horn of Gold
Until 2012, you received the Horn of Gold with the purchase of the Harmony Pack. With this item it was possible to give companions a special, unique look, comparable to the Golden Apple. The Horn of Gold art was designed by players and submitted to the creative section.



These two cute designs are by Cat Yagami (Monkey) and Julia83 (Zebra).


Where do you get the companions today?
-> by completing the Beginner Objectives right after the tutorial (new)

The Companions Chest
The Companions Chest is a special feature in the game that can be bought on the black market for a few days at irregular intervals. As with all lucky items, chance decides which companion is in the box at the time of purchase.



Description on the black market:
Give your horse a companion and also benefit from the bonuses it brings! The companion will be randomly selected from the list below. Each time a companion is won, they're taken out of the box, giving you a better chance of winning the remaining ones. Once the crate is empty, it will be filled again with all companions on the list.

Dragons

Some of the dragons as such could be won in events.

The Dragon's Flame is obtained from time to time in events and through the divine Manticore if you own it.

The dragons of the flame are randomly awarded.

An Alebrije companion is obtained by awarding the Black Market item:  Catrina Brooch and occasionally in events.

This companion grants a +2, +4, or +6 bonus in an ability. There are a total of 21 different, exclusive Alebrije companions that are randomly assigned.

Daruma Companions Part I 

The lucky charm companions in the form of Daruma figures were first available in the Companion Box.
Also, you can sometimes win them in events.
If you have the divine Sekiryū in your possession, he will randomly give you a gift.

The Monster Egg, from which a random Monster companion hatches, is a little special feature here in the game.

This egg contains one of 28 small monsters that players could create during the 2020 “Monster Workshop” event. In a joint community vote at the end of the event, the monsters that received the most votes were introduced into the game.

Each of these little monsters gives your horses a bonus in the ability: Gallop +13.



In the sleeping version, all monsters will show a broken egg.

The divine Yokaï gives monster eggs as a gift if you own him.

The Cat-Sith item was introduced with the Cat Evolution event in October 2021. It contains 8 different species. You can choose the look of an awake Cat-Sith.

Each companion brings your horses a bonus in the ability: Speed +13.

In the sleeping version, a pink ball of yarn will appear on all companions.

The divine Yvain gives Cat-Sith as a gift if you own him.

During the "Piñatas" event in July 2022, you could win the sea companions. Once you smashed open a piñata to complete the level, you were awarded the companion that looked like the broken piñata itself. The 10 sea companions up for grabs were:

The Cu-Sith item was introduced with the Evolution event in February 2023. It contains 8 different species. You can choose the look of an awake Cu-Sith.

Each companion brings your horse a bonus of +13 in a skill depending on the Cu-Sith you choose it is a different skill where your horse will receive the bonus.

In the sleeping version, a bowl of dog food, will appear on all companions.
