Account safety tips

Safety tips

It has come under our attention that there’s been a rise in accounts being taken over by others due to several different reasons. We felt that an article to help you remember how you can prevent such a situation from happening to your account would be beneficial. Below are a few different situations and what you can do to help keep your account secure.

Scenario 1:

Private message is sent claiming to be an official staff members or helpers asking for your password to keep your account from being lost, etc..

An authorized representative will NEVER ask for your password because we don’t need it for any reason whatsoever.

If we find that we need to discuss an issue concerning your account, contact will be made from one of the accounts listed in Blue, Green, or you may find your account has had its access temporarily restricted instructing you to speak with us via “Contact Us.” Moreover; all private messages from the Howrse team arrive to your mailbox under the “Game team/Official” tab.

Don't name and shame by ‘warning’ others anywhere in the game

Scenario 2:

A player offers to give you passes, but you need to fill out a “survey” form for them to do so.

There is no way for others to give you free passes. These surveys only do one thing: allow another to access your account as they ask for all the login information, which sharing such information isn’t allowed.

Scenario 3:

Player contacts you saying that they want to help others because of the economy or asked if you want free passes. All you have to do is change the email address to the one they will give you.

By changing the email address that is associated with your account, it gives the other player the chance to use the “Forgotten password” tool to reset the password.

It’s pretty simple, just means to point out the player to others. As in, don’t put out their name anywhere and just stop doing stuff with them. Just don’t warn other players of that player.
