I am strongly against leaving the official Howrse site, everything related to the game should be discussed here, right where all players can see it and join in the discussion in a safe and controlled environment . This is especially important for our younger players.

I know you guys dont like having to communicate on Discord but which one do you use? The only one I have found is or received a link to from Howrse is the Howrse Official and I am not able to comment and there is no discussion channel?
I dont like the idea of having to use it either and believe all game related conversations should be kept in game but I would like to be able to comment as well seeing as we dont get much achieved here.

Thanks for the clarification on the pet horses. I guess I was just hoping that wasn’t the case - not a fan of the creepy dog at all (but at least they removed the glowing eyes from companions).

I also don’t understand the push for Discord - no idea what demographic it’s targeting. Not suitable for younger players as you’ve explained and as an older player (who really is not that old), not many of us even know how to use Discord. Looks like an overly complicated version of Slack? How about Howrse just fixing it’s own forums/PM systems to be user-friendly?

I don't even know what Discord is but I find it really odd that parts of the game are being played from a separate site. It's just weird and honestly makes the game feel completely disjointed.

This morning I followed the link from a message I received from OW on this site and went to the Discord site and after a much to do opened a Discord account that looked and felt very creepy and alien.

So I deleted it

How about we stop being pushed towards Discord at every single opportune moment Howrse, that'd be lovely. Also give us back the stars so we can rate these lack luster updates
Seriously all the up roar and nothing, we get told "its being worked on" to then see the update be one measly genetic potential thing with the Ban'ei horses, which I had no idea about because they're just one big hot mess of a conversation Howrse doesn't want to hear and I don't actively breed them

You can't just fix something that's broken and call it an update. The term you are looking for is "server maintenance" and it should be done daily, as soon as you become aware of the issue.

I am someone who likes discord, and frequently uses discord as my main source of communication with people.

But here's the thing. Phishing is so, so common on discord. 80% of the time it may be something obviously fake, like where you're messaged that someone accidentally reported your steam account.

But not all of them are obvious. For example, recently there has been one going around where someone is messaged by a "friend" of theirs who's account has been compromised, or the compromised account posts in a server, It's a simple message that's something like "Hey, my friend is working on a game for their college project, would you mind testing it out and give feedback?" and then they send over an exe file. I personally know several people who had their accounts compromised because of this. I myself only avoided it because it was half past midnight and I said "sure but not right now".

And guess what, the people I know who fell for it? Computer science majors, cyber security majors, people who are in a cryptography, of all things, class with me. A CS friend of mine had their bank accounts compromised, their google accounts, their location tracked, etc. So many people in the CS and Cybersec discord servers for our school were compromised, it was actually insane.

So if people who are supposedly supposed to know better about these kinds of things can fall for something like that, what about not only everyone else, but children? Constantly pushing discord on players and trying to make it an necessity seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

So we're told to talk about it here however if you click the link to check out the changelog, your not directed here with another link to the events forum instead we have a Talk about it on Discord link. The conversations should be happening here on howrse where its accessible for all players to see and contribute to. I have no idea why'd you'd want to direct your player base away from the actual Howrse site

Whilst I'm typing yet another post again I'll reiterate myself, bring the stars to rank these updates back. I don't see why'd they'd be taken away unless Howrse didn't like the ratings that the players were giving to updates.

I think it's the lack of transparency which annoys me more than anything else. There is never an explanation for changes, even when questioned by so many customers. Just a simple answer would be ok, even if it's "we are testing Discord it to see if it improves the performance issues players are experiencing" even just " we are getting loads of kickbacks for using Discord" would be better than nothing

is this in reference to items like medusas blood and what not because I went to see if it would auto select my MB's in inventory and it still auto selects the pass option? Have I just interpreted this incorrectly?

I wonder if they mean things like privileges and apples in harmony packs, Knyphain? I had a glitch the other day where a donkey that had just received a Midas apple still wanted to use passes or an apple from inventory... (it was ok by the next day)

I agree - just wasted 100 passes on a HoP to see if it might have a pop-up warning or something

I'd say your probably right gaff, but l wasn't aware you could mistakenly use your passes when placing a wand or tears privilege on a horse ect, but who really knows if that's even what they mean, like usual it's clear as mud, there is never enough detail about some changes and we are left to figure it out in our own

It must just be far too hard to apply the changes we really want and NEED and have been literally begging for for years now . So we'll just introduce the game to Tik Tok, even though we know the players have voiced their disapproval and dangers of using discord. I just shake my head in disbelief.

Oh, and congratulations on reaching the world breaking numbers of 10,000 users on discord, hmmm, out of what is it? That's right, you boast 12million players, that's a huge % of players who have embraced it
