The next promo is--

Seasons Mazes

The concept is loosely the same as last year (get trees, decorate them and get gifts) but most of the contest has changed since last year.

There is one Maze for each season (so 4 in total, that become bigger and bigger) with a big gift at the end of each one, and a tiny tutorial Maze.

The Jackpot is the Celtic divine Dagda, at the end of the 4th maze.

Adjustments/New features:

There’s a tutorial with a whole maze (tiny one)

You now get a more immersive view into the Maze (1st person view instead of a view from the top looking at your horse). This means that every time you take a turn, the directions turn as well.

To avoid getting lost, there are several little tools/tips to know about:

The background changes whether you’re facing North/South/East/West

When there’s something to get on the next square, it is displayed on the arrow to help for the orientation

Hovering over an arrow shows which spot you will go to on the map (a red box is shown)

There are now Shortcuts, but you need to overcome obstacles to get through.

Shortcuts

The obstacles are quite diverse (rock, tree trunk, chasm, river, rainbow,…) and require specific horses/species to overcome them (donkey, draft horse, Pegasus, water element, unicorn…).

The required horse isn’t specifically mentioned, but there are hints that should help you guess.

The difficulty of the obstacles (i.e. required value) increases when the mazes get bigger.

Collections

There are now collections that contain the different shortcuts. You can win additional treats when you complete them.

Mobile Version

There is a mobile version, but it’s only with the map, not the immersive version.

Major change that all players need to be aware of.

Click to display
All divines that generate skills like the Solars, Egyptians, Winds, Gems some Chinese and Seasons will now have the placement of their generated skills done differently. When you get you skills you will no longer see a drop box to place them. What you do now is click the + sign beside the skill you want increased and a pop up will show. What will surprise you is a number 1 will show with a diamond icon beside it. At first I thought it would take a diamond but that will only happen if you skill the gems. So you change the number 1 to any number you want and that will be what will be added to that skill. This is going to take everyone for a loop unless you are aware of this change. Not sure if clear instructions will be given, hence the post here.

What a ridiculous change, hardly worth the bother, in-fact, I'd rather that stay exactly how it isdefault smiley (n) I'd much rather see a change that really benefits players, like changing the the way we pay/place a BMI on one of our horses. As it stands, using a pass from your inventory is 1st on the list and automatically ticked, despite the fact I may have over 20 Pieces of Cloud in my inventory, 2nd choice is using my Diamonds and lastly, using the BMI's in my inventory. Been a long time since I've been caught using a Pass when I had actually chosen a BMI from my inventory, but it flicked back to the pass just as I clicked accept default smiley :kect, but I bet players are still getting caught.
It just doesn't make sense to me the way it's set up, unless of course Howrse is actually trying to trick players into spending a pass when they don't have to.

Put it right please Howrse

Nothing is being taken out of your inventory.

Click to display
What they are doing is simply changing the way you add skill points to those divines that either give you points like the Seasons or earn points like the Solar or Egyptians. We did complain and they changed the diamond symbol when you are giving points only. It has been replaced with a star. None of us feel this change is even needed as the drop down box was easy to work with.

What will give players a shock is they will work their Solars for example then find they cannot find the skills they just earned, they will be hidden. Only by clicking on the + sign by the skill you want to increase will those skills show up.

Right now the big concern is

Trying to explain the new maze. It is very different to what we are used to..

Is the small map rotating as you move in the maze? If so, it's really going to be a strange maze, and it'll be difficult to find the optimal route.
@ Midsummer

The problem is that each player will have to mentally rotate the maze so the the bottom yellow arrow matches up with the red arrow in the mini map. So think of yourself as being on horseback and picture the view as if you are in the maze.

@ Freehold

Oh yes hun, I realize nothing comes from my inventory with the new change we're talking about, I'm just having a little whinge about putting BMI's on your horse, I think that requires change as in, the 1st choice (which is automatically ticked) should be the BMI from your inventory, of course that can only happen if you have the item in your inventorydefault smiley ;)

In hindsight I shouldn't have posted that quoting your message as it's confused the issuedefault smiley :p sorry default smiley :-x

I know what you mean. I have paid a pass because it didn't default to inventory.default smiley (o)

That would have been a better change as I can see no earthly reason to do the one they are proposing.

The new maze looks really difficult and may prove a real problem to us dyslexics

The problem is people are reading it too literally and that will be their undoing. The problem will be in orienting themselves from the mini map to the real maze. We are going to have to read it as if we are on horseback going forward.

I have found that hovering over each yellow arrow and looking at the mini map BEFORE I click any thing could possibly help this confusion.

The problem is

Not on all devices or browsers will this work. I am on FF and get nothing with hovering. Some mobile devices will do nothing as well.

The way to look at it is if you are on horseback and the tail of the horse is the bottom/lower yellow arrow. I will always be riding into the maze/corridor/path.

oh yea true, my mobile doesn't hover either, but within the app, its so much easier as the arrows are the correct way.
I try and think of it being like that freehold, except for the fact that the front end on the mini map sometimes doesn't correspond with what i'm actually looking at on the screen default smiley (o)

Ignore this part--

Click to display
>>>except for the fact that the front end on the mini map sometimes doesn't correspond with what i'm actually looking at on the screen<<<

That is what will confuse you.

If you think of riding along in the corridor, it doesn't really matter if the red mini map arrow is pointing up/down/left or right because you will always be simply forward.

Example The mini map has a red arrow pointing left and you know you are going straight for at least 2/3 moves. The maze will show you as going up with the bottom yellow arrow pointing down and the upper yellow pointing up. Now your instinct will tell you must go left but in fact you go exactly as the mini maps say--straight forward. The bottom yellow arrow in where you came from, or horses's tail and the top yellow arrow is going forward or "straight ahead", just as the mini map is telling you.

This isn't a spoiler, per see, but is it normal to suddenly have a bunch of passes? Os is that a glitch?

It is normal when you go to the test server to get more passes than what you normally have. They are there to allow you to test everything without the worry of running short of anything.

Just need to know anything done there has no affect here on your live account.default smiley :)
