[Info] Cross Breeders

The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding. There are many other aspects to crossbreeding, and we wish to include all if possible
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful default smiley :)

Here are a few points for beginners:
♦ If both parents are purebred, then the foal will present as the fathers’ breed
♦ If one or both are not purebred, then the foal will take on whatever is the dominant breed
♦ We cannot convert crossbreeds back to purebred. The most they will ever be is 99%
♦ When blupping, you need to take into account the top 3GP skills of the *individual* horse, not necessarily the breed it presents as
♦ The most important thing when it comes to crossbreeding? - to have fun default smiley ;)

Please bear in mind this is not the place to advertise coverings, nor is it for selling horses.

Thanks

Ponygirl- I recommend writing out a list of Classical and Western comps, and the skills used for each comp type. The fun of cross breeding is bringing two breeds together to see what you can get. Have some fun, try different combinations, see what works for you. There's only so much advice we can give you on this topic- the best way to learn is to do it yourself. default smiley :)

Some clarification on this.

Howrse limits the amount of visible breeds on a horse to the top 5. For instance, if I have a horse that's been crossed with TB, Knab, TW, Shetland, Teke, and an Arabian, only 5 of those breeds will be visible. You *can* have a horse that at some point has had all of the breeds put into it, but you wouldn't be able to tell unless you looked at it's ancestors.

oh but would it still have the skill gain from each breed
By Retired breeder, 26th June 2016 00:57:09
Yes but when you look at the bar in the genetics tab on your horse that tells you what percentage of each breed it is, it will only show the top 5 most prominent breeds.
Pretty happy with this foal (and his "siblings" lol). Can't wait to blup default smiley :)

I'm a dedicated cross-breeder on US, so I thought I would try it over here. Tried a QH/Fjord out of curiosity.

Not bad, really.

Luthien, I love your username. Just had to add that default smiley (lol)
Hello,

I have been away from the game for a little while and was just wondering where the crossbred horses had got to stars and skill wise?

Cheers,

Hi, just looking for a bit of an opinion on this horse I picked up in the sales. I wasn't going to buy him cause he wasn't purebred but with a quick look at his skills I thought he maybe worth it, so, what do you think ?
By Retired breeder, 18th July 2016 10:03:08
His skills are interesting maybe he was bred with tears but not sure wow is it was bred with out tears

@ponygirl
When I tried to do what you want to do, it was SUPER hard to keep track after over 10 breeds had been crossed. Even writing them down was hard.
I've been doing the every breed thingy for a while now The thing is I'm going to have to wait till a few more normal breeds come out so I'm in no hurry the other thing I'm trying to do is make sure all breeds are equal annd that's even harder! I'm surprised so meany of you guys are interested in the same thing! maybe we could work together since it''s the same goal.. Or as in alternative one could try on the international server which has more breeds to work with however I'm not sure if there are the right number of breeds to have all of them in one horse evenly...

I am thinking of picking back up cross breeding and here are the breeds I am thinking of crossing
Arab X hano (don't worry not my team horses)
Frisian X pure bred Spanish horse
What are your thoughts
By Retired breeder, 9th August 2016 08:08:09
has anyone have a horse that has every breed (except for the draught horse)
hanoXarab is a super easy and fun horse, i have bred a few but my favorite is madder sky in her first couple of days she won 300 gallop comps. its an awesome mix!

right now im working on a western line the first cross i have done is appaloosaXPBS i will be next crossing with a mustang and then arabian then finally cross back to appaloosa the goal is to have a horse that have a horse that can take on barrel/cutting/raining and have rounded stm/spd/dsge/glpdefault smiley :)

this is her first in line cross appalusian

if anyone is interested in working with crosses please message me as i do love my crossesdefault smiley :-))

Only 5 breeds will ever show up in a horses' lineage.

That's been a very long-term goal on the International server. I'm pretty sure it's already been achieved there default smiley ;)

significantly low in trot - would it be interesting to see her bred to a horse with high trot? such as a trotter?
