[Info] Cross Breeders

The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding. There are many other aspects to crossbreeding, and we wish to include all if possible
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful default smiley :)

Here are a few points for beginners:
♦ If both parents are purebred, then the foal will present as the fathers’ breed
♦ If one or both are not purebred, then the foal will take on whatever is the dominant breed
♦ We cannot convert crossbreeds back to purebred. The most they will ever be is 99%
♦ When blupping, you need to take into account the top 3GP skills of the *individual* horse, not necessarily the breed it presents as
♦ The most important thing when it comes to crossbreeding? - to have fun default smiley ;)

Please bear in mind this is not the place to advertise coverings, nor is it for selling horses.

Thanks

HanoxArab make the jumping and speed, Cross that with an Appaloosa and you should have an sufficient gallop.

Is there anyone else out there who has an all HORSE and PONY crossbred? I think I might try doing that, let's see how long it takes.
I'm not sure what you mean by an all horse cross, since most crosses are horse breeds, but I don't know if anyone has an all pony cross.

Hey guys! I used to post here a lot but then I kinda stopped crossbreeding (well I still did but only like 90% Arabian and 10% another breed) I wasn't aiming for a "performance horse" I was simply trying to climb that GP ladder & produce horses with high Dressage and GP for my EC (my best Dressage horse has 700+ Dressage!). default smiley :)
I have a new cross I am quite proud of his name is "Flesh Without Blood" which is a Grimes song.

He is currently #1 in popularity for Tennessee Walkers/skills ALL.
#45 The Elite
#87 Stamina
#5 Speed
#2 Gallop
#7 Jumping
#13 Dressage

Tennessee Walker: 51.2 %
Arabian Horse: 39.1 %
Knabstrupper: 4.9 %
Purebred Spanish Horse: 4.7 %

I used Tears to breed him and 51e lessons to train him. No beach rides as of yet. No clouds used.

Here he is!
Flesh Without Blood
Sire: ⚔Black Jack⚔
Dam: Mamdouh

Thanks for reading guys! (sorry if it was too long).
Hey all haven't been on for about a month and it's great to see the progress people have made.

Just wanted to show you my newest Foal bred today, and I am very very proud of him.
Skyfall

I have yet to reach the 2000 GP and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for that. Any information would be amazing and greatly appreciated, and also if anyone could comment on Skyfall because I have no idea what the quality of the crossbreed horses are at the moment.

Keep up the good work everyone

Nice work...99 to 1 percent takes a lot of breeding. When finding a public covering, do GP greater than 2000 and there are some that are really good and for a reasonable price.
thank you, I bred a female and have just achieved 200 GP.... YAY!!!!
I did what you suggested and it worked, default smiley :) very very happy and thank you very much.

Beautiful Lavista with 155 stars,

Hey so I quite enjoy crossbreeding and was think of crossbreeding my 100% Knab. Can someone suggest a cross that will make a good competitions horse? (I don't perticularly mind which competition)
Hi everyone, was thinking I would start crossbreeding.
I was wondering if anyone knew the best two breeds to crossbreed in order to get a high skill in jumping?

Thanks

Hanoverian is good at jumping. That is about as good as you can get. The top leading horse in jumping is a purebred Hano, so really, it is about as good as you can get.
That really depends on what you want the horse to excel in. If you're looking for a good jumper, Arablover's suggestion is pretty solid. Want more of a dressage comp horse? A Walker/Knab/TB cross should do it. Think about what you want the horse to do well in, and compare it to the skill sets of the breeds currently available.

I'm thinking of playing around with Cross Breeding to hopefully create a future GP team.

What breeds to people reccomend to pair with each other? I'm planning to use Hano for jumping skill for example, Arabian for Stamnina, TB for gallop but not sure what breeds mix well with what.

Wanna breed a Rosette winner, in any comp..might try for Dressage or Jumping..
For all those that are think of starting crossbreeding, I would suggest a Thoroughbred cross Tennessee Walker, they have a great skill set and you can get all stars from them. Also Arabain cross Tennessee Walker, is also very solid and is what my top crossbreed is at the moment.

However it does depend on the GP of the parents and it's best to look at breeds that are compatible. Such as where the skills of one is weak the other parent should be stronger.

eg, the trot of a tennessee walker improves the trot of a thoroughbred. Breeding this way creates solid horses across all the skills. However breeding a horse with extreamly high GP to a horse with an average GP can create foals that at times can be worse then their parents. It's all about balance and a bit of luck.

This is just a quick run down on the basics that I have found, they may not work for everyone but this is what works for me.

I have been crossbreeding for over 2 years and I am more then happy to give advice to people who are needing it.

Please PM.

Would a Tennessee walker crossed with an Arabian and possibly a Knab be worth it?
The overall GP in the end should be 2000 - 2100GP
I'm not to sure if the skills would be better or worse

Mine and mistymusic's latest foal. We were thinking about breeding her with a breed that excels in trot to even out the skill set. Thoughts?

Hi all, currently making up a list of breeds that work well together based on different disciplines. And expected outcomes of the foals.

The reason being is that it's just there is a lot people asking what to cross breed with, and plus I just like helping people.

Hi all just finished my tutorial on crossbreeding,
Not sure if I am allowed to post the link up here, but if anyone wants it I can PM the link, it's on my deviant art.

It's just a simple walk though, that I created due to the increasingly popularity of crossbreeding
and simple hint/tricks/helpful information on how to get started.

If allowed I will post link here at a later date. default smiley :d
